The expansive ‘World of DC’ movie universe has just reached new heights with the announcement of another new movie based on a DC hero. Supergirl joins the ranks of Nightwing, Batgirl and more as a new movie is in development.
This isn’t Supergirl’s first movie outing, with her own movie back in 1984, which was met with mixed to negative reviews.
The CW Supergirl show is also widely popular around the world, which leads many to speculate whether the development of the movie will affect the show. It is, however, believed that the CW have no plans to end their current superhero outings, including Arrow, The Flash, Black Lightning, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.
Kara Zor-El is the cousin of Superman, going by the name Kara Danvers. She made her first comic book appearance in Action Comics #252 in May 1959.
No information is currently known about the movie, as there is no director on board just yet, and no producer are currently attached. Although, Deadline has reported that Oren Uziel, writer of 22 Jump Street and the Cloverfield Paradox, is working on the script.
This story is still developing, we may have to wait until next year for more news. Supergirl joins the long line of DC movies in development, and will be subject to speculation on who will play the role.
