The hype train keeps on rolling…
We’ve finally received our first look at the much teased Marvel’s Avengers game from Square Enix. It has been over 2 years since the game’s announcement and a release date has finally been announced for May 15th 2020. Check out the trailer from Square Enix’s E3 presentation below:
A beta for the game will be available at some point in the future, first on PS4. The game has been described as follows: “Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”
The game is a collaboration between Marvel and the Square Enix studios of Crystal Dynamics (Tomb Raider) and Eidos Montreal (Deus Ex). Troy Baker and Nolan North are also among the voice cast for the game.
The game has been confirmed to include four-player, with online co-op play, which may divide fans who were looking for a solely single-player experience. However, it is unknown how this feature will be fully utilised in regards to the game’s narrative.
There will also be numerous games in the series, similar to the Batman Arkham series, with a reportedly overarching narrative.
The game will be available on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Google Stadia from May 15th 2020.
