A New Era Begins… Before the last one even started!
Amazon’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings has already received a second season renewal before the first has even aired. Amazon seemingly has a lot of faith in the project, which goes along with the news that they have a five-season plan for the series.
The series will reportedly be set before the film trilogy, during the Second Age of Middle Earth, potentially featuring characters such as Sauron. The first season has entered into pre-production in New Zealand and is expected to air late next year.
While few details have been given, some casting details have been announced. Will Poulter will play the series lead Beldor, Markella Kavenagh will play Tyra, while Joseph Mawle, known for his role as Benjen Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to play the show’s villain.
