The critically acclaimed Yakuza franchise, which recently had a Western release of Yakuza 6: The song of Life (review to follow soon) will see remastered releases of Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 in Japan. Y3 is scheduled to release 9th August, whilst Y4 and Y5 will come out spring 2019. Earlier in the year, Yakuza producer Daisuke Sato stated that SEGA “may consider” releasing said titles for PS4 if there was enough demand-it is now clear that there was a demand.
The Yakuza series has seen a recent resurgence in popularity and critical acclaim outside of Japan thanks to Sega localising Yakuza 0 for English speaking territories back in January 2017, which received critical acclaim and commercial success. This was enough for two full remakes to also be localised- Yakuza Kiwami a remake of the first in the series (which bombed in the West for numerous reasons including a star-studded dub that failed to grasp gamers) that released in August 2017, and the upcoming Yakuza Kiwami 2 which is currently scheduled to release August 2018.
A Western release for these remasters has yet to be announced, but would likely be revealed sometime after the Japanese release.
