The 3rd instalment of the Kingsman franchise has officially been confirmed by 20th Century Fox.
The currently untitled movie will be written and directed by Matthew Vaughn, who directed the two previous movies.
Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle, was met with mixed reviews by critics and fans alike, as it both built up new characters and kept the same fun and goofiness that the series started with, but tore down what they’d built from the 1st, leaving a clean slate for the next movie. The 3rd instalment looks set to be a brand new chapter in the series, using this clean slate to its advantage.
Vaughn has stated that Kingsman 2 is considered a bridge between 1 and 3: “Weirdly, Kingsman 2, when we were writing it, we were thinking about Kingsman 3 as well, which was odd. Big idea for that. [The Golden Circle] is sort of the bridge — if we can pull this off and people go see it — to the other one.” Kingsman 2 could be seen as an expansion on the world , with the introduction of The Statesman, while 3 will put these aspects into better use.
The Kingsman series is based off ‘The Secret Service’ comic book series, from Icon Comics, an imprint of Marvel Comics.
No casting details have been confirmed, but it is assumed Taron Egerton, Colin Firth and Channing Tatum will return.
Kingsman 3 will release worldwide on November 8th, 2019.
