Attendees for the Zelda concert at Osaka today were surprised when Producer Eiji Aonuma teased a release for Skyward Sword on the Nintendo Switch. This news was reported via a Tweet and has been verified by numerous attendees and even has a GameXplain video on it.

This release would continue a trend of re-releases for Zelda titles, following the likes of Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD on the Wii U and Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora’s Mask 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. If the rumour is indeed true it is expected to be announced during a future Nintendo Direct, hopefully in the near future.

Skyward Sword was released in 2011 and is chronologically the first game in the ever-muddled timeline. It is notable for its use of extensive 1:1 motion controls that were innovative for most though responsive for others. It was also released to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of the Zelda series.
