2019 will be the year remembered when a picture of an egg has overtaken Kylie Jenner on the most liked picture on Instagram.
A successful public figure, entrepreneur and overall role model to many young teenagers, Kylie Jenner has always been at the top of the social media hierarchy, reaching almost five million likes on each and every post on her Instagram page, with a whopping 123 million followers. Forbes estimated her to be worth $900 million with the main income from her brand ‘Kylie Cosmetics’.
The previous contender of the most liked photo on Instagram was a post announcing the name of Kylie’ baby ‘Stormi’ with a photo of Stormi holding her thumb. Posted in February 2018, the photo received 18,320,968 likes.
4th January 2019, an Instagram account emerges known as ‘world_record_egg’. The profile only had one post, a photo of an egg, following it a caption, “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this.”
Nine days later the wishes from the caption came true, the record was broken, surpassing Kylie Jenner’s previous record of 18 million likes, on the 14th January, the post is now sitting at over 28,000,000 likes.
