Just as Resident Evil 2’s long-awaited HD Remake has been released, Deadline initially broke the news today that Netflix is reportedly developing a new live-action series based on the Resident Evil franchise.
The German production and distribution company Constantin Film, who were behind the ‘Resident Evil’ movies starring Milla Jovovich, will reportedly be behind the series as producers. Netflix is also reportedly searching for a showrunner for this potential Netflix Original series.
Fans will be hoping for a more accurate take on the series, focusing on the games rather than the movies. It has been hinted that the series may build on the “signature elements” of the Resident Evil franchise.
Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but the rumours circulating hint towards an expansion of the series, delving into the Umbrella Corporation and the initial T-Virus outbreak. We will keep you updated as more information starts to roll out.
