“Genie, wishes, lamp… none of that ringing a bell?”
Disney fans have been given their first look at Will Smith’s genie in action during a teaser released during the 2019 Grammys.
Smith follows in the huge footsteps of prior comedian Robin Williams who sadly died before he could be given a chance to reprise the role. He is typically quippish, “You really don’t know who I am? Genie, wishes, lamp… none of that ringing a bell?” But has evoked a mixed reception due to the heavy CGI look the character has.
“Aladdin is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s Aladdin.”
Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie.
The film is expected to release on May 24th 2019.
