“What if I’m not a hero. What if I’m the bad guy?” (Apology for the Twilight quote…)
According to sources at Variety, Robert Pattinson is looking very likely to close a deal very soon with Warner Brothers, to become the next Batman. The casting has not yet been confirmed by Warner Brothers or DC, however, the deal is expected to close very soon.
Robert Pattinson is most well-known for his role in the much-loathed Twilight Saga, as well as his role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. He has showcased his talent as an actor in other movies such as Good Time and Cosmopolis.
Matt Reeves has been reportedly working on a script for The Batman for a while and is potentially eyeing up a June 25th 2021 release date. The movie originally had Ben Affleck in the role of Batman, continuing what had been started in earlier DC movies, however, Affleck reportedly stepped down, with Reeves looking for a young version of the character for his movie. Filming for The Batman will occur later this year or early 2020.
Reeves is most well known for directing the previous two entries in The Planet of the Apes franchise, which was both met with hugely positive critical and fan acclaim.
Rumours are also circling that Nicholas Hoult, among others such as Armie Hammer, may be up for the role of Bruce Wayne, although neither has yet been confirmed by Warner Brothers.
The most recent DC/Warner Brothers movie to hit theatres is Shazam! which was met with positive reviews from fans and critics alike, while their most recent foray into the streaming world with Doom Patrol has been equally as successful.
