As the game releases…
If you’re questioning whether to buy the brand new entry in the beloved Half-Life series, check out this gameplay footage courtesy of IGN‘s YouTube channel:
Half-Life: Alyx is a VR first-person shooter, published by Valve. It is the latest in the cult-favourite series and has been described as the following: “Taking place before the events of Half-Life 2, players control Alyx Vance as she and her father Eli fight the occupying alien Combine.”
Fans will be able to experience a new entry into the series after a long wait for Half-Life 3 (Which is still seemingly not on the cards). It is also the first Half-Life game to be in VR, which may split fans looking for a traditional experience.
The first Half-Life was the first game developed by Valve. It was released in 1998 and was a huge success, receiving critical and fan acclaim while also being a commercial success too. Half-Life 2 was released in 2004, which was also a success and led to a few shorter follow up games in 2006 and 2007. There have been no games released since then, with many fans becoming increasingly more frustrated over the years, leading to many online memes and jokes about Valve’s inability to finish trilogies.
Half-Life: Alyx is available from today on Microsoft Windows/Steam.
