Will the next generation kick off with a bang?

Microsoft live-streamed a showcase event today for some of the games that will be featured on the Xbox Series X, this includes both first and third party titles. It has been confirmed that all of the games featured on this showcase will be available through the Xbox Game Pass when they release. Master Chief returns in Halo Infinite, featuring an explorable Halo ring, the demo features a look at new gameplay features such as a grappling hook, as well as stunning graphics and some story details. The trailer also introduces the antagonists for this entry, The Banished. Watch the full Halo Campaign trailer below:

A fan-favourite franchise is returning after years away, Fable is finally back! This entry is described as a new beginning for the franchise. “Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. Developed by Playground Games for Xbox Series X and Windows 10.”

State of Decay 3 was also confirmed with a short trailer featuring a zombified deer, no other details were given regarding the release, but it is one of the more high profile announcements from the showcase and hopefully improves on the entry before it. “The zombie survival game takes a new twist as you journey into the frozen wilds and contend with infected wildlife in this cinematic trailer for State of Decay 3.”

Racing fans on Xbox may be happy to know that Forza Motorsport will be returning on Xbox Series X. The game keeps up the trend of most Forza games, featuring beautiful graphics that outshine most games on the market.

DLC was also announced during the showcase, specifically The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon DLCThe Outer Worlds is an RPG created by Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of Fallout New Vegas. It received a positive reception from both fans and critics and will finally reveal a new DLC, featuring a brand new world, story and more. The DLC will be available on current-gen consoles from September 9th 2020.

The following games were also featured on the showcase and will be a part of the next generation of Xbox, all of the trailers for these games are featured in the showcase above. Some of the games featured are older releases that are being remastered or rereleased, but some sequels to popular games were also confirmed:

  • Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis
  • The Gunk
  • The Medium

  • Avowed
  • Grounded
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Tell Me Why
  • Everwild

Xbox has yet to reveal a price or release date for the Xbox Series X but expect an announcement in the coming months.
