A Day of Celebration!
Disney has announced, alongside the previous Star Wars news, that 10 Marvel projects are in the works and coming to Disney Plus, alongside other movie related news. As with the Star Wars news before, we will get straight into all of the announced projects so far, trailers included:
The Fantastic Four are back in Marvel’s hands and will be joining the MCU in Jon Watts feature film coming in the future.
A new trailer for Wandavision has been released ahead of its January 15th debut on Disney Plus.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will also debut early this year with a March 19th release date on Disney plus. A trailer was also released for the series, showcasing what’s in store for this much anticipated series.
Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer all return alongside newcomers Kathryn Newton, who joins the cast as Cassie Lang, and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in the third movie in the Ant-Man series. Peyton Reed returns to direct Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Following on from the events of Avengers Endgame, Tom Hiddlestone is back as the titular Loki debuting on Disney Plus from May 2021, check out the trailer below:
The previously announced Marvel animated series, ‘What If…?’, has recieved a trailer ahead of its Summer 2021 debut.
The cast for the upcoming movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has finally been revealed. The movie is scheduled to be released July 9th 2021, check out the cast below.
Marvel also released a sizzle reel for Ms. Marvel, an original live-action series coming to Disney Plus, starring Iman Vallani as Kamala Khan.
Alongside this news comes the announcement of Captain Marvel 2 in which Vellani’s Kamala Khan will play a part. Captain Marvel 2 is set for a November 11th 2022 release date, with Brie Larson returning as the titular hero. There may also be some crossover with the WandaVision series in the form of Teyonah Parris.
Confirmation of Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany’s casting as She Hulk comes next in her own Disney Plus series. Both Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth will be returning as Hulk and Abomination.
Many fans will be happy to know that a Moon Knight series is on the way, although little information is known so far. “The Marvel Studios original series for Disney+ centers on the character Marc Spector aka Moon Knight, a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. These multiple identities who live inside him are distinct characters in the series and will appear against a backdrop of Egyptian iconography. The action-adventure Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight series, created for Disney+, is directed by Mohamed Diab.”
Samuel L. Jackson returns once again, alongside Ben Mendelsohn in Marvel’s Secret Invasion Original Series.
Iron Man’s legacy will live on as Dominique Thorne takes up the role of Riri Williams in Ironheart, an original series coming to Disney Plus.
Don Cheadle’s War Machine will get some love in his own original series, Armor Wars. “A classic Marvel story about Tony Stark’s worst fear coming true: what happens when his tech falls into the wrong hands?”
James Gunn will be returning to direct a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in 2022 for Disney Plus. The special will take place ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in 2023.

It was also announced that former Batman actor, Christian Bale, will be joining the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder as the villain Gorr the God Butcher. Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theatres on May 6th 2022.
Last but not least, Jeremy Renner will be returning as Hawkeye alongside newcomer Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop in the much anticipated Disney Plus series, Hawkeye. The series has started filming and is set to debut in late 2021. “Additional cast include Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, with episodes directed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie.”
