IT’S HAPPENING!
After the Mass Effect Trilogy Legendary Edition was announced before, BioWare also confirmed a new Mass Effect game was also in development. Many fans were speculating whether it would be a sequel to Andromeda or an entirely new thing. Most fans will rejoice in what the following announcement trailer via The Game Awards 2020 has to offer:
“Get a sneak peek at the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. A veteran team at BioWare is in the early stages of what is on the horizon for the Mass Effect franchise, and we are excited to show you where we’ll be heading next!”
The trailer seemingly hints at a return to the Milky Way after the events of the previous trilogy, most likely following the “Destroy” ending, where the Reapers and Synthetic life are wiped out, but Shepherd seemingly survives. The trailer also shows an Asari character who seemingly is Liara from the original trilogy. This leads to much speculation on whether Shepherd will make a return or if we will see the likes of Garrus, Tali and more.
The game is in the early stages of development, so expect more news later next year. In the meantime, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is set to release in Spring 2021, and will be available for PS4, Xbox One, PC and forward compatible with enhancements for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

As much I am excited for ME4 (Andromeda is a spinoff in my opinion), I can’t view this with skepticism because they could very well be cashing on our nostalgia and love for the ME trilogy, which would then lead huge sales but with nothing more to offer. Almost all the people who worked on ME trilogy have left Bioware which also makes me question who exactly does Veteran team comprise of?
On the less broody side. I would love to see all the crew make a return in ME4 and I really hope ME4 is awesome.
