Fox will air two additional episodes of the Vertigo/DC series Lucifer on Monday, May 28th, despite its recent cancellation on the network. The episodes will air at 8pm ET in the US, no news on whether they will be featured on Amazon in the UK. This comes at a time of fan backlash, led by lead actor Tom Ellis on twitter, where fans are using #SaveLucifer in an attempt to get the show picked up. The news of the trending hashtag and campaign even reached BBC Newsnight in London, who interviewed the Lucifer star this week on his attempt to lead the charge in saving the show.

The episodes will be featured back-to-back, and are titled, “Boo Normal”/”Once Upon A Time”. Fox has been known to produce extra episodes in a series, this was evident in Lucifer’s second season, where four episodes were produced but not released until season 3.

The synopsis for these episodes reads as follows: As Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and the team investigate the murder of a child psychiatrist, Ella (Aimee Garcia) thinks about a big childhood secret that she’s been hiding. Then, after Lucifer’s mom creates an alternate dimension, Lucifer now lives in a world where he not only has never met Chloe (Lauren German), but is granted the freedom of choice.

As we know Ellis, Garcia and German, the full cast list includes all of the returning regulars such as DB Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze, Kevin Alejandro as Dan, Scarlett Estevez as Trixie, Rachael Harris as Linda Martin, Tricia Helfer as Charlotte and Tom Welling as Marcus Pierce. Guest cast includes Charlyne Yi as Ray-Ray/Azreal, Madeleine Coghlan as Beckett Wilson, Nadine Ellis as Iris/Purple Wolf, Louis Herthum as Lt. John Decker, Brian Tee as Ben Rogers, David Meunier as Rex Wilson and Neil Gaiman as God.

The casting of Lucifer and Sandman creator Neil Gaiman as God comes at no surprise, as the role was hinted at earlier in the week. Fans will be excited to see this play out; although there is no indication that these episodes will address season 3’s cliffhanger ending as they have been described as standalones, which will be a disappointment to fans.

Despite all of this, #SaveLucifer and #PickUpLucifer are still going strong, although no network has yet to pick up the series. Join us, the fans and Tom Ellis in using the hashtags on twitter and save this show.

Tune in next Monday at 8pm ET on Fox for Lucifer’s, possibly, last two episodes.
