Paramount Players and Nickelodeon has announced that they will be relaunching a children’s classic animation, Rugrats. The show which was enjoyed by many fans around the world since jumping onto our television waves back in 1991 and running for almost 13 years is coming back.
Rugrats will be relaunched with a brand new series of 26 episodes on Nickelodeon and a live-action film courtesy of Paramount Players, a division of Paramount Pictures which have scheduled the film for November 13, 2020.
Nickelodeon will also be bringing back the original executive producers who were also the creators of Rugrats, Arlene Klasy, Gàbor Csupó and Paul Germain. According to Collider, Nickelodeon might sneak peek the show at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con as they have a big presence at this year’s show.
“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,” said Sarah Levy, COO, Viacom Media Networks; and Interim President, Nickelodeon. “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”
The Rugrats series will be joining the recently announced revived shows, Blue’s Clues, Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life at Nickelodeon.
