Mr. Robot will enter its final season this year, according to Sam Esmail, show creator.
Esmail told the Hollywood Reporter, “Since day one, I’ve been building toward one conclusion — and in breaking the next season of Mr. Robot, I have decided that conclusion is finally here… Everyone on the creative team, including the amazing people at USA and UCP, didn’t want to say goodbye, but we ultimately have too much respect for Elliot’s journey to extend past its inevitable ending.”
The decision seems to be a purely creative one by Sam Esmail, even stating on twitter that USA wanted to keep the show running.
Not at all. In fact, USA wanted to keep it going. They’ve been unbelievably supportive from the beginning. https://t.co/We99z45pnf

Excited to show you guys the final chapter in Elliot’s journey. It’s going to be sad to say goodbye to Mr. Robot, but it’ll be sadder to say goodbye to all the fans. Thanks for hanging with us throughout the years and cannot wait to share the conclusion with all of you.
