Disney has recently released the debut teaser trailer for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming live-action rendition of Aladdin, which stars Mena Massoud (Jack Ryan) in the leading role as Aladdin.
The remake also features Will Smith filling Robin Williams’ shoes as the iconic Genie, Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) as Jasmine, and Marwan Kenzari (Ben-Hur, Murder on the Orient Express) as Jafar, the main antagonistic force in the movie.
“Aladdin is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s Aladdin.”
Little is revealed in the trailer, asides from some settings and the first look at Aladdin himself. Aladdin is the latest in a line of live-adaptations of classic animated Disney films.
More details are likely to follow closer to the release date of May 24th 2019.
