Update: According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Finn Jones has confirmed that he will reprise the role of Iron Fist in other Netflix shows in the future. An official confirmation of this from Netflix or Marvel has yet to be made. But it is safe to assume this report is correct.
It has been officially confirmed that Iron Fist will not return for a 3rd season on Netflix. The show, starring Finn Jones as The Immortal Iron Fist/Danny Rand, has been dropped by Netflix only a month after the second season aired.
The show was negatively received in it’s first season, but the second season was regarded by both fans and critics as a vast improvement. However, even that didn’t seem to save the show, as Finn Jones confirmed on his Instagram.
In his post, Jones thanked the fans for their support throughout the show and commended everyone involved over the last two seasons.
The cancellation, however, leads to speculation that we may see a Heroes for Hire series spinning out of Iron Fist and Luke Cage’ series. While, the show may be over, there is still hope that the character will live on in future seasons of other shows.
While Iron Fist may be done for now, Daredevil will be back on Netflix next Friday October 19th.
