In a shock early announcement, ABC has renewed Marvel’s Agents of Shield for a seventh season, before the sixth has even aired. The news comes straight from the Agents of SHIELD Twitter account.

The announcement comes as a surprise after last summer left fans questioning whether the show would even get a sixth season. It is also a shock to many considering Disney’s recent streaming service announcements. The seventh season order consists of 13 episodes, the same as season six.

Marvel’s current tv roster includes the likes of Cloak and Dagger, The Runaways, the Marvel Netflix Universe (Which has recently seen both Luke Cage and Iron Fist cancelled), and the upcoming Disney+ Series’.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, reprising his role from The Avengers and Iron Man 2. It also stars Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May and Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez.

Season six will air in 2019, with no set release date as of yet, while seven seems more likely for a 2020 release. It is unknown if Clark Gregg will return as Phil Coulson after season five’s finale.
